FEATURES
🏰 The 2018 Georges Noellat Vosne Romanée is a prime example of Burgundy's 'pearl of the necklace' appellation, offering a harmonious blend of elegance and power. This Pinot Noir showcases a bright ruby color, evolving into deeper garnet hues with age. Expect a delicate yet intense bouquet of ripe red and black fruits like cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant, often complemented by floral notes of rose or violet. The palate is remarkably silky with fine tannins and balanced acidity, though it may appear a little austere in its youth, requiring time to develop its full structure and fleshy texture.
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy is perfect with powerful meat dishes such as jugged venison or a succulent rib of beef. It also pairs beautifully with lighter fare like a delicate chicken stew, venison fillet, salt-marsh lamb, or even a flavorful piece of Japanese Tataki beef. Don't forget to try it with mature cheeses to enhance its complexity.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party or a special celebration, this wine is a testament to the finesse of Vosne Romanée. It's a fantastic choice for collectors looking to cellar a wine with significant aging potential, or for those who appreciate a refined red Burgundy that can be enjoyed now with proper decanting.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Georges Noellat is a Burgundy winery located in Vosne-Romagne, famous for its Pinot Noir wine. Maxime Scheurlin, the 20-year-old grandson of George's wife, took over the estate from George's wife and made his debut with the excellent 2010 vintage. Prior to this, most of the winery's production was sold in bulk to négociant companies. Today, the domaine owns approximately 10 hectares (25 acres) of vineyards, spanning Vonn and neighboring communes, with a further ten hectares acquired through purchase and lease agreements. Of course, the domaine is still best known for its prized assets in Vosne, which include the Echezaux and Grands Echezaux parcels.
