Joseph Drouhin, Griotte Chambertin Grand Cru, 2023
The 2023 vintage for Joseph Drouhin Griotte Chambertin Grand Cru is noted as one of Burgundy's hottest years, surpassing even 2022, yet it delivered generosity in both quantity and quality with consistent yields across the region. The Pinot Noirs from this vintage show excellent ripeness with smooth, long, and complex palates, offering flavors of ripe red and black berries. Joseph Drouhin has adopted organic viticulture since the late 1980s and biodynamic practices since the 1990s, emphasizing respect for the soil and vine. 【 This Grand Cru is known for its complex and subtle aromas, hinting at cherry liqueur, preserved cherry, fine leather, and nutmeg, evolving to truffle and venison notes with maturity. 】 James Suckling rated the 2023 vintage 97 points, praising its lifted and floral perfumes of fresh roses, strawberries, and cherries, along with excellent structure, polish, and subtlety. It is described as medium- to full-bodied with fine tannins and fair persistence.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions for this elegant red Burgundy include duck, goose, game birds, beef, veal, and poultry.
🥂 This wine is perfect for a celebratory dinner, a sophisticated gathering, or a special occasion where a truly expressive and high-quality Pinot Noir is desired. Its complexity and aging potential also make it suitable for collectors.
