🏰 The 2021 Joseph Drouhin Bonnes Mares Grand Cru is a testament to resilience and meticulous winemaking in a challenging Burgundy vintage. The 2021 growing season was marked by frost and disease pressure, resulting in one of Burgundy's smallest harvests. Despite these difficulties, Joseph Drouhin, a respected producer known for its commitment to terroir expression and biodynamic practices, crafted a wine of remarkable quality. This Grand Cru is described as a 【 wine with great breed 】, showcasing a vivid, intense ruby red hue. The nose reveals complex aromas of black cherry, sour cherry, and raspberry, complemented by notes of cherrywood, evolving towards nuances of truffle and musk with aeration. On the palate, it offers a harmonious balance between structure and texture, with a fresh and lively attack, perfectly integrated tannins, and a remarkably long finish. The reds from this vintage are harmonious and elegant, with lower alcohol concentrations, fruitiness, and freshness, embodying a rather classic Burgundian style.
🍴 This exceptional Pinot Noir pairs harmoniously with refined culinary preparations. Ideal matches include woodland game such as roast pheasant with morels, thrush, or lièvre à la royale. Fine red meats like roast lamb or tournedos also make excellent pairings, provided the sauces complement the wine's freshness without excessive richness. Truffle-based dishes and aged hard cheeses are also superb companions.
🥂 The 2021 Joseph Drouhin Bonnes Mares Grand Cru is a pinnacle of Burgundian winemaking, perfect for collectors and connoisseurs seeking a truly world-class wine experience. It is ideally enjoyed at a temperature between 16 and 18°C and has an optimal drinking window between 15 and 20 years, with cellaring potential of up to around 30 years. This makes it an excellent choice for significant celebrations, milestone anniversaries, or as a treasured addition to a fine wine cellar.
