🏰 The 1996 Chateau Latour is a 【spectacular Latour from a vintage considered fabulous for later-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon in the Médoc】, offering immense aging potential and often compared to the 1966, only riper. This Pauillac (78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc) displays a medium to deep garnet color. The nose is profound with earthy, meaty, gamey notes, hints of blueberry preserves, creme de cassis, pencil shavings, graphite, and cigar wrapper. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated, and packed with muscular fruit, supported by a firm, ripe, grainy backbone and an epically long finish. It's still very youthful and tightly wound, built around ripe, melting tannins and bright acidity, promising a long future.

BACKGROUND
Château Latour is a legendary First Growth estate in Pauillac, Bordeaux, with a history dating back to the 14th century. Known for producing some of the most powerful, long-lived, and consistent Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant wines in the world, Latour's Grand Vin is sourced primarily from the 'Enclos', a prime 47-hectare vineyard surrounding the château. The wine is celebrated for its immense structure, deep concentration of black fruit, graphite, and cedar notes, requiring decades to reach its full, majestic potential.
