FEATURES
The 2022 Arpepe Valtellina Superiore Grumello Rocca de Piro hails from a warm and dry vintage, yielding darker colored wines with smaller berries, indicative of greater structure and concentration. Ar.Pe.Pe. is a benchmark in Valtellina, celebrated for its robust, classically structured wines that prioritize vintage and site characteristics over overt fruitiness. Crafted from 100% Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo) grapes sourced from 50-100 year old vines in the Buon Consiglio and San Antonio single vineyards within the Grumello subzone, this wine undergoes a lengthy maceration of around 110 days, followed by approximately 18 months of aging in large wooden vats and barrels, then cement, and finally bottle aging.
This Nebbiolo offers a complex and vibrant aromatic profile of stony minerality, cinnamon, earth, and strawberries, with a subtle hint of restrained blood oranges. On the palate, it is full-bodied with refreshing acidity, density, and savory, velvety tannins that frame a lifted, precise finish. Expect notes of dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, mint, sage, and licorice, along with redcurrant, sour cherry, tobacco, undergrowth, and graphite. The wine is mineral-driven and focused, with fine sweet tannins and a very long, savory finish. 【 Classic Valtellina Superiore from old Nebbiolo terraces, known for its complexity and aging potential 】
