FEATURES
The 2010 Chateau Marquis de Terme is a highly regarded Margaux Bordeaux, with critics noting its excellent quality and aging potential. James Suckling awarded it 92 points, describing "dried meats and berries on the nose and palate" with a "full body, beautiful fine tannins, and a juicy finish". Decanter scored it 93, highlighting its "juicy, floral, elegant, and sculpted" profile, with a dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit character and a lovely peony fragrance after some aeration. Neal Martin's Wine Journal gave it an impressive 94 points, praising its "well-defined bouquet" of ripe blackcurrant, cedar, boysenberry, and a touch of shellfish, noting the oak was "totally in tune with the fruit". The wine is medium to full-bodied, with a structure of racy acidity and firm, grainy tannins. It is considered an excellent Marquis de Terme, showing harmony and cohesion. 【Excellent Margaux vintage with harmonious structure】. This vintage is drinking well now but also has significant aging potential, with some suggesting it can be enjoyed from 2020-2036 or even 2027-2050. Chateau Marquis de Terme is best served at 15.5 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit) to enhance its freshness and lift. It pairs wonderfully with all types of classic meat dishes, including veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, and game, whether roasted, braised, or grilled. It's also a perfect match for Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna, mushrooms, and pasta, as well as various cheeses. This wine is ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a celebratory meal, or as a valuable addition to a serious wine collection. Its aging potential makes it a thoughtful gift for milestones or a superb choice for a vertical tasting of Bordeaux vintages.
BACKGROUND
Château Marquis de Terme is a Fourth Growth (Quatrième Cru) estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, classified in 1855. The estate has a long history dating back to 1762 when it was named after the Marquis de Terme. Since 1935, it has been owned by the Sénéclauze family. The vineyard covers 40 hectares, planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon, along with Merlot and Petit Verdot. The terroir consists of classic Margaux gravel soils, which provide excellent drainage and heat retention. The wines are known for their elegance, aromatic complexity, and silky tannins, typical of the Margaux style.
