wine serving
What are the recommended serving temperature, decanting time, and drink window for this wine? Should I use an Ah-So opener?
For this 2011 Gaja Sori San Lorenzo Magnum (1.5L), we recommend serving it at 16-18°C. Given its age and the magnum format, a decanting time of 1-3 hours is highly recommended to allow its complex aromas to fully develop. The optimal drink window is from now until 2040+. As the wine is not yet over 20 years old, an Ah-So opener is not strictly necessary, but a good quality corkscrew is advised for older corks.

asian food pairing / wine style
What is the style of this wine and what Asian food pairings would you recommend?
Gaja Sori San Lorenzo, a Barbaresco, is a powerful and elegant Nebbiolo. It exhibits a full-bodied style with intense aromas of red berries, rose petals, tar, licorice, and earthy notes, supported by firm tannins and high acidity. It is an exceptional pairing for rich Asian dishes such as Peking duck, braised beef with star anise, truffle-infused mushroom hotpot, or aged hard cheeses.
