🏰 The 2008 vintage was not a generally declared year for Port, making Quinta do Noval's decision to declare a Vintage Port a testament to the exceptional quality of their estate's fruit in that particular year. This was a very small declaration, with less than 1,000 cases produced, highlighting its rarity and exclusivity. 【Rare, single-quinta Vintage Port from a non-generally declared year】.
This Vintage Port is intensely aromatic with floral, olive, meat, and dark fruit characters, showcasing blackberries, blackcurrants, and plums. The palate is concentrated and boldly fruity with real depth and spicy structure, expressive and serious, with firm but fine tannins. It has a deep, ink-like color with an intense bouquet of wild flower and dark fruit, being rich, potent, elegant, and suave with multiple layers of concentrated fruit aromas. Other notes describe a floral and peppery nose, concentrated black and red berry and cherry fruit, hints of eucalyptus, and a glossy, warming palate with a velvet cocoon of tannins, dark chocolate/mocha, and spice-edged fruit. Some also find a grippy profile with dark ganache, loam, sauvage notes, tobacco, chestnut, bitter plum, fig paste, and echoes of mint and sage.
🍴 This exquisite Vintage Port is particularly enjoyable with dessert, dark chocolate, or cheese. It forms a classic pairing with mature blue cheeses such as Stilton, where its richness and body complement the cheese's intensity. It also pairs beautifully with dark chocolate desserts, especially those with red fruit components.
🥂 An outstanding choice for celebrating significant milestones, a luxurious after-dinner drink, or a thoughtful gift for a Port connoisseur. Its rarity and complexity make it a truly special experience.
