FEATURES
The 1987 Antinori Tignanello, a Super Tuscan blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, showcases the ability of Tignanello to produce a great wine even in challenging vintages. While the 1987 Tuscan vintage was generally considered so-so due to a cool, damp spring and rainy summer, some good wines were still made. This vintage is described as intensely ruby red, offering a complex bouquet of ripe red fruits like cherries, sour cherries, raspberries, and plums, complemented by delicate spicy notes of cloves and liquorice, and sweet balsamic hints of mint and chocolate. On the palate, it is rich, mouth-filling, and vibrant with supple, velvety tannins, leading to a lengthy finish. Some tasters have noted a beautiful evolution with age, revealing saddle leather, tobacco, mushroom, and earthy notes, alongside alternating black and red fruit, with a surprisingly vibrant and fresh palate. 【 Known for its complexity and ability to age gracefully, even from a challenging vintage. 】
Given its age, this wine has reached its drinking window and can continue to offer pleasure for several more years. Expect potential fragility in the cork and capsule; handle with care. Decanting for one to two hours is recommended to allow it to breathe and fully express its complex aromas. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
🍴 This Tignanello pairs wonderfully with classic Italian dinners, such as pasta with meatballs and chicken parmesan. It is also an excellent match for beef and venison.
🥂 Ideal for a special anniversary dinner, a sophisticated gathering with fellow wine enthusiasts, or a cozy evening by the fireside, offering a journey through time for the connoisseur.
