🏰 The 2022 vintage for Domaine Dujac saw harvest commence on August 29, with winemaker Jeremy Seysses carefully managing extraction, resulting in a portfolio of beautifully balanced wines. The Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is sourced from four parcels, including Aux Charmes and Mazoyères, with approximately 85% whole cluster fermentation and fewer punch-downs to avoid over-extraction. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2011. This wine presents impressive purity and vigor on the nose, with notes of black cherries and boysenberry fruit, sometimes appearing slightly glossy or opulent. Additional aromas include cherries, plums, potpourri, orange rind, and spices. The palate is medium-bodied with blackberry and bilberry fruit and saturated tannins, offering a harmonious profile, though some suggest it could benefit from more minerality on the finish. It's described as full-bodied, rich, layered, textural, and muscular. Decanter notes ripe plummy fruit with menthol, earth, and smoke accents, a silky and very fine tannic structure, and a lingering finish. It can also exhibit a "frisky character" with good tension and energy. 【 A superb portfolio of beautifully balanced wines uniting charm and density 】
🍴 Classic pairings include duck, goose, and game birds.
🥂 This is a wine built for the long haul, with recommendations to drink from 2036 onwards. It's ideal for special occasions demanding a powerful and elegant red Burgundy.
