FEATURES
The 2021 Bodegas Roda Roda I Blanco marks the third vintage of this white wine, and it's widely considered their finest white to date, hitting its stride by marrying the weight of the 2019 with the freshness of the 2020. This vintage was a complete year with a long cycle, allowing grapes to ripen thoroughly while maintaining excellent acidity. Crafted primarily from Viura, with smaller proportions of Malvasía Riojana and Garnacha Blanca from old vineyards, it underwent fermentation with indigenous yeasts and matured for 18 months in large oak barrels. 【Finest white to date, marrying weight and freshness】. It presents a beautiful straw yellow color, reminiscent of summer wheat fields, hinting at its upbringing. The nose is delicate yet intense, gradually revealing aromas of grapefruit, quince, white-fleshed peaches, fresh elderflowers, and rhubarb stalks, steering clear of common tropical notes. On the palate, it offers a fatty volume without excess, great amplitude, and an enormous length, underpinned by a marked acidity that provides magnificent freshness. Notes of grapefruit, a pleasant subtle bitterness, quince, and peaches reappear, with a powerful retronasal route and a mineral background of limestone. Critics have praised its creamy nose of brioche, lemon curd, macadamia nuts, minerals, and a touch of butterscotch, leading to a supple, round, full-bodied palate with very fresh acidity and a long finish. It's described as delicious and ready to drink, with good potential for further development in the bottle.
Food pairing suggestions include chicken and turkey, shellfish, appetizers and snacks, lean fish, and cured meats. Its gastronomic and autumnal character makes it a versatile companion.
This wine is perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a special celebration, or an intimate gathering where a complex and expressive white wine is desired. Its ability to develop in the bottle also makes it an excellent choice for cellaring and enjoying in the years to come.
