The 2006 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered good, with wines showing a balance of fruit and structure. Domaine Trapet Père et Fils, now run by Jean-Louis Trapet, is known for its biodynamic principles and impressive vineyard holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin. The 'Ostrea' bottling refers to the oyster shell fossils found in this Gevrey-Chambertin vineyard, which boasts 60 to 90-year-old vines. The 2006 Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin Ostrea is a Pinot Noir wine from Burgundy. Tasting notes for the Ostrea often describe a wine that mixes grace with vigour, associating strength with finesse, resulting in an admirable synthesis of generosity and virtue. Specific notes for the 2006 vintage mention aromas of red fruits, mushrooms, and underbrush, with a full body and well-integrated tannins, and persistence of fruit and minerality on a rather long finish. Other vintages of Ostrea have shown fine depth of tangy red berry and cherry flavours mingling with notes of spice, tobacco, and cedar. 【Biodynamic winemaking from ancient vines】. This wine is ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion with connoisseurs, or a thoughtful gift for a Burgundy lover. Food pairings include duck, goose, and game birds. It also pairs well with beef, veal, and poultry.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Trapet is a wine company comprised of two estates, one in Alsace, the other in Burgundy. The company in its current dual-region configuration formed when Andrée Trapet inherited her parents' vineyards in Alsace in 2002. Her husband Jean-Louis has run Domaine Trapet Père et Fils in Gevrey-Chambertin since 1990, when he took over from his father Jean.
wine serving
What is the recommended serving temperature and drink window for this 2006 Trapet Gevrey Chambertin Ostrea? Should I decant it?
This 2006 Trapet Gevrey Chambertin Ostrea is a mature red Burgundy. We recommend serving it at 14-16°C. Decanting for 30-60 minutes can help it open up, but it's not always necessary for Pinot Noir of this age. Enjoy it now or cellar for a few more years.
