FEATURES
The 2021 Tenuta Sant'Antonio Amarone Selezione Antonio Castagnedi is a full-bodied and structured red wine from Veneto, crafted in honor of the four Castagnedi brothers' father, Antonio. This Amarone is made from meticulously selected Corvina, Rondinella, Croatina, and Oseleta grapes grown in the Monti Garbi vineyards. The grapes undergo a natural drying process (appassimento) for about three months, concentrating sugars and flavors, before fermentation and aging for two years in new 500-liter French oak tonneaux.
On the nose, this wine offers a fascinating and complex olfactory profile, featuring notes of tobacco, licorice, coffee, and preserved red fruit. Other descriptions include ripe red fruit, spicy aromas of liquorice, black pepper, and hints of chocolate. The palate is powerful, warm, and balanced, a synthesis of a soft and enveloping structure with energetic tannins and vibrant freshness. It is rich and velvety, with well-balanced structure and soft tannins, leading to a long and aromatic finish. James Suckling describes it as fruity with raspberry and blood orange aromas, medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins, refreshing acidity, and a lean finish.
【A prestigious red wine from Veneto, embodying the essence and excellence of Tenuta Sant'Antonio's modern and elegant production.】 This Amarone has a youthful and lively personality, a modern and robust representation of the Valpolicella region.
🍴 This Amarone is ideal to accompany rich dishes such as braised meats, roasts, and aged cheeses. It also pairs well with beef, lamb, and game (deer, venison). Its concentrated flavors of dried fruit, spice, and chocolate make it a popular choice for hearty meals.
🥂 Perfect as a meditation wine to be enjoyed alone to fully appreciate its complexity, or for a celebratory dinner where a powerful and elegant red wine is desired. It's a wine that can be drunk now or held for further aging.
