FEATURES
The 2019 Luce della Vite Brunello di Montalcino hails from a balanced and late vintage, characterized by a cold and sunny winter followed by a spring with low average temperatures and heavy rainfall, which created important water reserves. This resulted in a slight delay in the vegetative cycle, but the region's climatic shifts, with high diurnal range, enhanced flavor retention, contributing to the elegance and longevity of Brunello di Montalcino wines. Brunello di Montalcino wines cannot be released until the 5th year post-harvest.
This 100% Sangiovese wine, sourced from the renowned Madonnino vineyard, displays a medium-deep garnet color with hazy garnet shades at the rim. The nose is pronounced and vibrant, bursting with ripe berry fruits like red plums, cherries, blackberries, and pomegranate seeds, alongside hints of oak-derived notes of tobacco and cloves. Floral undertones of violets and lavender, subtle spice elements of nutmeg and anise, and earthy undertones reminiscent of marl and granite further enhance the bouquet. On the palate, it is rich and expressive, with a dry profile, vibrant acidity, and well-integrated, ripe, and grippy tannins. The texture is seedy, and the finish is crisp, leaving a lingering sensation of finesse and depth. Natalie MacLean describes it as a medium-plus-bodied beauty, fragrant with pink florals, lavender, black cherry, blueberry, and toasted nut aromas and flavors, elegant and mouth-wateringly long. James Suckling notes black cherries and blueberries with walnut and lavender undertones, a medium body with very fine tannins, fresh and vivid.
【Highly praised by critics, with scores up to 98 points from James Suckling and Natalie MacLean.】 While still developing, it can be enjoyed now or aged for another 3 to 5 years, with some suggesting it can evolve until 2040 or 2043.
🍴 This Brunello is a quintessential Sangiovese-based wine that pairs beautifully with rustic dishes such as classic osso buco with gremolata or a rich mushroom risotto. Its acidity balances the fat-rich textures of such dishes. Other excellent pairings include prime rib, roast duck, and venison sirloin steak.
🥂 Ideal for a special occasion dinner, a gathering with fellow wine enthusiasts, or as a thoughtful gift for a connoisseur. Its elegance and aging potential make it suitable for both immediate enjoyment and cellaring for future celebrations.
