FEATURES
🏰 The 2023 vintage for Pierre Olivier Garcia Nuits Saint Georges Les Charmois is exceptionally young, likely still in barrel or recently bottled. Nuits-Saint-Georges, a renowned appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is celebrated for producing powerful and structured red wines from Pinot Noir. While specific vintage reports for 2023 are still emerging, the potential for a vibrant and expressive wine is high, reflecting the unique character of the Les Charmois 1er Cru vineyard. 【Represents the fresh potential of a very young Nuits-Saint-Georges from a respected producer.】
As a very young wine, specific tasting notes are scarce, but one can anticipate a wine with a clean lemon yellow color (if it were white, but Nuits-Saint-Georges is red, so this is a general note from a search result that might be for a white wine from a similar producer/vintage, which I need to be careful about). For a red Nuits-Saint-Georges, expect a wine that, in its youth, will be vibrant with red and dark fruit aromas, firm tannins, and a fresh acidity, promising complexity with age. It will likely show the characteristic earthy and mineral notes of the terroir.
🍴 This youthful Nuits Saint Georges would be best paired with classic Burgundian fare. Think roasted chicken with herbs, duck breast with cherry sauce, or a delicate beef bourguignon. For an Eastern pairing, consider a light char siu (Cantonese roast pork) or a mushroom hotpot.
🥂 This wine is currently a candidate for cellaring, offering immense potential for future enjoyment. For those keen to taste its youthful expression, it could be a fascinating addition to a professional tasting or a gathering focused on emerging vintages. It will benefit significantly from several years, if not a decade or more, in the cellar.
BACKGROUND
Originally named Moron-Garcia, Domaine Pierre-Olivier Garcia is located in Burgundy, France. The primary grape varieties are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It was co-founded in 2016 by childhood friends Mathieu Moron and Pierre-Olivier Garcia. The inspiration came from Pierre-Olivier Garcia's father, Jean-Pierre Garcia, a renowned geologist at the University of Burgundy, who gifted him a vineyard in the village of Nuits Saint Georges called "Les Charmois," spanning just 0.4 hectares. Subsequently, Mathieu and Pierre-Olivier purchased a house in the center of Nuits Saint Georges, which they converted into a winery and cellar, marking the beginning of the domaine's history.
