FEATURES
The 2013 Mas de Daumas Gassac Rouge comes from a relatively cool year for the Languedoc region, though it avoided the heavy rains that affected Bordeaux. This vintage is noted for emerging in a lighter style than usual, yet still offering satisfactory alcohol levels. It's a blend predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon (72%), with Merlot, Tannat, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, and other rare varieties making up the remainder. The wine is known for its super ripe, dense fruit, with notes of plum, smoke, scorched earth, and lavender, surrounded by perfume and freshness. On the palate, it presents a lovely soft texture, seamless and balanced by fresh, integrated acidity, with ripe red and black fruits. Jancis Robinson MW described it as having spice and leather on the nose, a very sweet palate entry, and being quite charming and delicate, suggesting it "really needs food to fend off those slightly dry tannins." Some tasters have been surprised by its elegant, red-fruited profile, likening it to a burly red Burgundy rather than a Cabernet-dominant wine from the South of France. It's considered a "vin de garde" with an aging potential of another 10 years plus. 【An iconic natural wine from the Languedoc, known for its unique terroir】.
🍴 Food Pairing: This red blend is versatile, pairing well with lamb, red meat, rich sauces, and blue cheese.
