FEATURES
Domaine Peyre Rose's Clos des Cistes 2006 is a highly acclaimed Languedoc red, consistently receiving high scores from critics, including 93/100 from Guide RVF des Meilleurs Vins de France and 18.5/20 from Bettane + Desseauve. Winemaker Marlène Soria, often called the "diva of Syrah," is celebrated for her unique approach in the Languedoc, producing organically grown wines from 25 hectares of vines. The 2006 vintage is noted for its energy, tightness, and intensity, appearing remarkably youthful compared to the 2005. This Syrah-dominant blend undergoes a lengthy aging process of nearly 10 years, partly in casks, before further refinement in the bottle. 【Marlène Soria's unique, organically grown, age-worthy Syrah-dominant blend, highly praised by critics】
This wine presents a complex and pure bouquet of Mediterranean spices, garrigue, tapenade, prune, dates, and smoky/lardy notes. On the palate, it is unctuous with a broad and diffuse mid-palate, maintaining fantastic length without being overly opulent. Expect a velvet texture with aromas of licorice, pepper, and mint leaves, alongside earthy, leathery, and dark fruit characteristics like plum and black fruit, complemented by hints of tobacco, oak, and coffee. Its ruby colour with garnet highlights hints at its depth.
This robust red pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as beef, veal, and pasta. Specific recommendations include leg of lamb with fresh oregano and roasted turnips, or a thick veal chop baked with artichoke barigoule and black olive purée. It is an excellent match for red meats in general.
The Peyre Rose Clos des Cistes 2006 is ideal for special occasions, celebratory dinners, or sophisticated gatherings of wine enthusiasts. It's a wine to be savoured and discussed, perfect for a thoughtful meal rather than a casual drink.
As a 17-year-old wine, it will benefit from careful handling. Stand the bottle upright for a day or two before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Decanting is highly recommended for at least 1-2 hours to allow the wine to breathe and fully express its complex aromas and flavours. Serve at a cellar temperature of 16-18°C (60-64°F).
