FEATURES
The 2013 Jean-Claude Bachelet Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru hails from a domaine now expertly managed by Jean-Claude's sons, Benoît and Jean-Baptiste, who are dedicated to organic and biodynamic farming practices, with many of their parcels featuring old vines planted as early as 1927, contributing to the wine's remarkable intensity and concentration. This white Burgundy undergoes a minimum of 18 months in oak barrels, which imparts a noticeable oak character in its youth that gracefully integrates with age. Critics have lauded the 2013 vintage for its elegance and complexity. Burghound rated it 91-94, noting an elegant array of honeysuckle, white peach, pear, spice, and soft wood nuances, describing it as finer and more elegant with a refined mouthfeel and excellent length. Vinous, with a score of 92, found it pale, bright lemon-yellow, with a reticent nose dominated by spicy oak, deep but closed, showing ripe pear, peach, and mineral flavors, finishing with strong saline minerality. Robert Parker awarded an impressive 94-96 points, highlighting concentrated citrus and confit fruit, an energetic and lively palate with a twist of sour lemon, intense honeyed fruit, superb balance, and an extremely long, tender aftertaste. Common tasting notes for this wine include butter, oak, vanilla, peach, apple, citrus, honey, and minerals. This Grand Cru is 【one of the most highly rated Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet wines, with exceptional critic scores and aging potential】. It's an ideal choice for a sophisticated dinner party, a celebratory milestone, or a serious wine tasting. Its complexity and aging potential make it a contemplative wine for connoisseurs. 🍴 Food Pairing: This exquisite white Burgundy pairs beautifully with rich fish like salmon or tuna, poultry dishes such as roasted chicken or turkey, pasta with creamy sauces, and a selection of mild and soft cheeses. 🥂 Event Suggestions: Perfect for a formal dinner, a significant anniversary celebration, or a high-end corporate event where a truly exceptional white wine is desired.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet et Fils is a well-regarded wine producer based in the town of Saint-Aubin in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy, France. It produces a range of wines, predominantly Chardonnay, from fruit in Saint-Aubin and neighboring Puligny and Chassagne-Montrachet, including a plot in the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru site. The eponymous Jean-Claude Bachelet established the domaine name in the 1970s although the family has winemaking history dating back to the 17th Century. Jean-Claude's sons Jean-Baptiste and Benoit progressively took over the running of the domaine in the early 2000s and the cellars were rennovated in 2010.
