Delas Frères, the esteemed winery, was acquired by the Rouzaud family (of Roederer Champagne) in 1993 and unveiled a new winery in 2016. Critics have lauded this vintage, with JamesSuckling.com awarding 94 points, Jeb Dunnuck 93-95 points, and Wine Spectator 93 points. 【Highly acclaimed single-vineyard Syrah with significant aging potential】
This wine displays a deep ruby red color with garnet tinges. The nose offers complex aromas of stewed black fruit, cassis, blackberries, black raspberries, black olive, pepper, hung game, lavender, cedary oak, and a smoky topnote, evolving to hints of leather and game. The palate is full-bodied, balanced, and structured, with flavors of blackberry, plum, black olive, violet, smoked meat, and cracked pepper, leading to a long finish with ripe black cherries and mineral energy. It is described as plush yet elegant, with fine, buried tannins that suggest a long life, with an optimal drinking window from 2028-2045.
It pairs exceptionally well with a variety of grilled meats, waterfowl, mixed grills, marinated beef or chicken, lamb, poultry, game (such as deer or venison), and mushroom-based dishes.
This sophisticated Crozes-Hermitage is ideal for intimate dinners, celebrations, or as a special gift for wine enthusiasts. Its complexity and aging potential make it suitable for special occasions or for cellaring. It can be enjoyed now with decanting or cellared for 8-12 years to unlock further complexity and depth.
