FEATURES
Taylor's Victory Port 80 Year Old Tawny Port is a truly exceptional and historic release, inaugurating a new category of 80-year-old Tawny Ports as of January 2025. This limited edition, with only 1,945 individually numbered bottles, pays tribute to the year 1945 and the end of World War II. It represents a masterpiece of patience and expertise, crafted from Taylor's vast reserves of very old cask-aged Ports, some dating back to 1888, meticulously blended and aged for eight decades in seasoned oak casks in their historic Oporto cellars. The blend is allowed to marry for several months before bottling, ensuring seamless integration of flavors, complexity, and depth.
Tasting notes describe a rich mahogany hue fading to copper gold, with a superb and heady mixture of opulent and seductive aromas. Expect waves of rum and raisin, molasses, and caramel, overlaid with delicate notes of coffee beans, golden sultanas, sweet cigar leaf, elegant nuttiness, and subtle fine oak. On the palate, hints of nutmeg, gingerbread, anise, quince, black pepper, rich figgy plum pudding, and confit apricot unfold. The wine is in perfect balance with sweetness, a smooth velvety palate, and a crisp acidity that provides attractive freshness and elegance, culminating in an immensely long, finely constituted, and wonderfully balanced finish. Decanter awarded it 98 points, praising its "extraordinary depth, balance and nuance".
Food pairing suggestions include fig, almond, and caramel desserts, crème brûlée, wild strawberries, or simply enjoyed on its own with walnuts or dried fruits. Serve lightly chilled between 12°C and 16°C.
🥂 This is an ideal wine for commemorating significant historical events, celebrating major milestones, or as an unparalleled gift for a true connoisseur. Its rarity and historical significance make it a collector's item. 【First 80-Year-Old Tawny Port Category Release, Commemorating WWII End】
