FEATURES
The 2013 Luciano Arduini Simison Amarone della Valpolicella Classico comes from a vintage characterized by a long, cold winter and a rainy spring, which initially delayed vine development. However, a hot, dry summer, followed by significant diurnal temperature shifts in late August and early September, proved beneficial for grape ripening, especially for Amarone. Despite some challenges like hail and continuous rain in September that reduced overall yields, careful grape selection was crucial for producing quality wines. The 2013 Amarone vintage is generally considered to be of medium-high quality.
Luciano Arduini's "SIMISON" series Amarone is crafted from historic vines, averaging 45 years old, and features a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and the rare Oseleta grape. The grapes undergo a unique drying process where 45% of the water is extracted, followed by an additional 5% air-drying, resulting in a remarkably concentrated flavor profile. After vinification, the wine is aged for around 24 to 30 months in oak barrels, followed by further bottle aging. Tasting notes describe an intense ruby hue with a fragrant bouquet of blueberry, cherry, toffee, coffee, and mint. The palate is full-bodied with velvety tannins, revealing layers of blueberry, cherry, plum, dried strawberries, raisins, vanilla, coffee, toffee, subtle sweet spices, liquorice, and oak, culminating in an exceptionally smooth and persistent finish. 【Crafted from historic vines with an average age of 45 years, making it the most interesting wine in the series.】
