FEATURES
The 2002 Perrot Minot Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru hails from a "tranquil vintage of unusual harmony and balance," a year when winemaker Christophe Perrot-Minot aimed for purer wines with reduced extraction and new oak. This vintage is widely considered one of the best Perrot-Minot has ever produced. This red Burgundy, made from Pinot Noir, displays a bright red-ruby color. The nose offers nuanced aromas of rose petal, mocha, dark chocolate, and smoke, alongside earthy notes, red fruits, black truffles, cured meat, spices, young cherry, dried leaves, and hints of rose and cherry tomato. The palate is sweet, round, creamy, and seamless, with fleshy flavors of raspberry, iron, and blood orange, complemented by red fruit, herbs, underbrush, and game. It's described as elegant, manly, and sophisticated, with fine mineral dimensions and a very long finish. 【 Arguably the best vintage Perrot-Minot has ever produced, showing unusual harmony and balance 】 Food Pairing: This magnificent Grand Cru pairs beautifully with roasted game birds, duck breast, mushroom-based dishes, coq au vin, and a selection of mild, aged cheeses. Event Suggestions: A truly special wine for significant celebrations, fine dining experiences, or a dedicated tasting session for serious Burgundy collectors. Its extensive drinking window, from now until 2040, makes it a superb choice for cellaring and enjoying over many years.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Perrot Minot is headquartered in Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits region, north of Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Red wine is mainly made from Pinot Noir. The history of the winery can be traced back to the "Domaine Merme-Morizot" at the end of the 19th century. In 1993, it was taken over by Christophe Perrot-Minot, who acquired Domaine Pernin-Rossin and its assets in 2000. In 1999, the domaine also began a négociant business, producing wine from fruit from its partner vineyards, including several Grand Cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin. The winery produces wine from seven Grand Cru vineyards, the most famous of which is Chambertin, as well as a series of First Growth vineyards. Yields are strictly limited and green harvesting is done in specific plots, so some vines can only produce five bunches of grapes.
