The 2002 Gros Frere et Soeur Clos Vougeot Musigni Grand Cru is a magnificent expression of red Burgundy, crafted from Pinot Noir grapes grown in a highly esteemed parcel of Clos Vougeot that borders the legendary Musigny Grand Cru. This unique location, often referred to as "Musigni," contributes to a wine of exceptional character and depth. The 2002 vintage itself was excellent for red Burgundy, yielding wines with impressive power and concentration, along with remarkable purity and freshness.
Upon tasting, this wine reveals a profound bouquet of red cherries, waxy blackberries, and an array of spices, complemented by subtle hints of cola and earthy undertones. The palate is deep and satin-textured, brimming with wonderfully ripe dark fruits and a myriad of spices, all supported by a balanced structure, good acidity, and fine, supple tannins that promise excellent ageability. While heavily oaked in its youth, it has gracefully evolved, now showcasing seductive aromatics and a long, fruit-filled finish. This is a wine that truly embodies the epitome of fine Burgundy, with its beautifully perfumed nature and pure black fruit flavors.
