🏰 The 2016 vintage in Burgundy saw low yields due to frost, hail, and mildew, but Gevrey-Chambertin was less affected by frost. Sunny weather in July, August, and September, with timely rain, ensured fine ripeness without over-maturity, leading to high-quality wines. This Armand Rousseau Gevrey Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru 2016 displays a deep ruby colour and an intensely fruity nose, reminiscent of black cherry, wild blackberry, and liquorice. As it evolves, more complex notes of mild spice, nutmeg, leather, mushroom, and damp earth emerge. The palate is round and generous, with tannins that are present but not astringent, blending harmoniously with freshness and a velvety texture.
🍴 This powerful and perfumed red Burgundy demands elaborate and flavourful food pairings, such as roasted leg of lamb, boeuf bourguignon, feathered game (grilled or in wine sauce), or strong, mature cheeses. Grilled and fried meats with rich sauces are also excellent choices.
🥂 An excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner, a Burgundy tasting event, or a cherished gift for a connoisseur. This wine has significant aging potential and will continue to develop beautifully over the next decade or more. 【Intensely fruity with evolving complexity】
