FEATURES
🏰Capturing the essence of a vintage that triumphed over challenging climatic conditions, the 2001 Carruades de Lafite is a testament to resilience and meticulous vineyard management, offering a seductive bouquet of dark fruits and elegant complexity. The 2001 Bordeaux vintage, initially fraught with irregular weather, was ultimately saved by a serendipitous Indian summer, allowing grapes to ripen optimally. This second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild, a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, shares characteristics with the Grand Vin but with its own distinct personality. On the nose, expect a seductive bouquet of dark fruits like cassis, blackberries, and black cherries, accompanied by subtle notes of cedarwood, tobacco, and a hint of graphite, alongside ripe blackcurrant and smooth leather. The palate is elegant and medium-bodied, with intense concentration, richness, and sweet tannins that have evolved into a gossamer web-like structure, balancing power with delicacy, and revealing luscious dark fruit and earthy truffle tones.
🍴 This classic Bordeaux red is an excellent partner for roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck confit, and aged hard cheeses, enhancing the richness of these dishes.
🥂 Ideal for formal dinners, special anniversaries, or as a prestigious gift for Bordeaux lovers. It also offers superb potential for long-term cellaring.
Serving suggestion: Decant for 1-2 hours to allow it to fully open up. Serve at 16-18°C. This wine has excellent aging potential and can be enjoyed for decades to come.
