FEATURES
The 2014 vintage for Spain's Toro region, home to Vega Sicilia's Pintia, was generally good, though not exceptional. A mild, wet winter led to an early budburst and flowering, followed by a cooler summer in June and July. However, warm and dry conditions in August, coupled with good water reserves, allowed for excellent grape maturation during the September harvest.
This Pintia 2014 presents a powerful nose, initially a bit closed, but soon revealing brambly, leathery black fruit aromas and smoky oak. The palate is chalky and tight, offering dark, toasty notes with spicy berry and cassis flavours. It's a voluptuous, full-bodied wine with a rich texture, showcasing intense sweet fruity aromas beautifully integrated with spicy woodiness. Expect notes of blueberry, huckleberry, dark chocolate, mocha, and a hint of bourbon-like woody caramel, with cherry and leather on the finish. Critics have praised its elegant style, fine-grained, round tannins, and wild berry, aromatic herb, and spicy flavours. 【An elegant, full-bodied and intense expression of Tempranillo from Vega Sicilia's Toro property, highly rated by critics.】
Food pairing suggestions include hearty beef and venison dishes, traditional roast suckling pig or milk-fed lamb from Castilla, or even prime rib and paella for a festive meal.
This wine is ready to drink now and can be enjoyed through 2028, or even aged for up to 10 years if stored under ideal conditions. It's a fantastic choice for holiday gatherings with family or any occasion calling for a robust and expressive red wine.
