Henri Chauvet, a rising star in Auvergne, presents his Braconnage 2024, a vibrant natural red wine crafted from 100% Gamay. Chauvet, a former insurance banker, trained with luminaries like Thierry Allemand, bringing a meticulous yet non-dogmatic approach to natural winemaking. He is known for his 【vibrant, terroir-driven natural Gamay from Auvergne by a rising star winemaker trained by Thierry Allemand】.
The 2024 Braconnage, vinified as a Vin de France from Gamay grapes sourced from the Coteaux du Lyonnais, reveals a profile of fresh, slender, and very lively Gamay. Tasting notes highlight aromas of small red fruits like crunchy cherry, raspberry, and redcurrant, complemented by floral notes of peony and fine pepper. The palate is supple with delicate tannins and a natural acidity that lengthens the finish, favoring drinkability without sacrificing depth. Aged for nine months primarily in stoneware jars with a small proportion of old barrels, it emphasizes purity and tension.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions: This Gamay pairs exceptionally well with roasted poultry, country terrine, fine charcuterie, veal chop, pâté en croûte, or bistro cuisine centered around grilled vegetables.
🥂 Event suggestions: Enjoy this wine young for its bright fruit, ideally slightly chilled, at a casual gathering with friends, a summer barbecue, or a relaxed dinner. It also has enough structure to evolve over a few years, making it interesting for a short-term cellar addition.
