🏰 The 2000 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered very good, especially for red wines from the Côte de Nuits, where Meo Camuzet's Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru is located. After a mild winter and spring, a cool, wet July caused some concern with rot, but a warm August dried out the vines. While September saw varied conditions, the Côte de Nuits generally enjoyed a healthier season, leading to ripe and concentrated grapes. The wines from this vintage are often described as having bright, fresh red fruit, particularly raspberry notes, with a pleasant, sweet fruit character and soft tannins. Although many 2000 Burgundies were initially destined for early drinking, some brilliant examples, especially from the Côte de Nuits, have proven to be age-worthy and have developed interesting tertiary characters with time, exceeding initial expectations. Meo Camuzet's Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées is a highly regarded wine, known for its structural concentration due to its proximity to Richebourg Grand Cru. 【The 2000 Meo Camuzet Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru is a testament to the Côte de Nuits' success in a vintage that produced charming, age-worthy reds with evolving complexity.】
🍴 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées, with its elegant red fruit and evolving complexity, is a fantastic match for a range of dishes. Classic pairings include roasted poultry like duck breast with cherry sauce, venison with a red wine reduction, or rare-aged Charolais ribeye. For a more rustic approach, consider hare en civet or beef bourguignon. Aged Comté cheese with walnut bread would also be a delightful accompaniment.
🥂 This wine is ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary, or a contemplative evening for a Burgundy enthusiast. Its maturity makes it perfect for immediate enjoyment, but it also has the structure to continue evolving. Serve at 14-16°C (57-61°F).
BACKGROUND
Domaine Meo-Camuzet is located in the village of Vosne-Romanee, France. The estate employs organic fertilizers and advanced cultivation techniques to maintain ecological balance in the vineyards. Coupled with the exceptional terroir and the legacy of Henri Jayer, Jean-Nicholas' efforts have elevated the estate to a top-tier winery in just a few decades. In 2003, Jean-Nicholas founded the négociant business Méo-Camuzet Frères et Soeurs. Although the grapes are purchased, the team personally supervises the vineyards to ensure the quality of the grape sources.
