FEATURES
🏰 The 2017 vintage for Luigi Einaudi Barolo Cannubi was shaped by a warm climate and low rainfall. The wine, sourced from the south and southeast-facing Cannubi hillside at 220 meters elevation, benefits from the sandy-clay soils that yield a floral and elegant expression. Crafted from Nebbiolo grapes, specifically Michet and Lampia clones, grown in Sant'Agata marl soils, it undergoes fermentation in concrete, followed by 30 months in large oak barrels and nine months in bottle.
This Barolo is intensely fragrant, boasting enticing floral scents of rose and iris, mingling with red berry and camphor. Aromas also include tobacco, dried cherry, licorice candy, wild berry, purple rose, dry mint, crushed stone, red cherry, raspberry, mint, white pepper, sweet red/purplish fruit, cedar, and sweet pipe tobacco. The palate is classic and savory, with building tannins, dusty earth, cherry pit, and resin. It delivers a smooth, delicious experience with crushed raspberry, strawberry compote, and star anise alongside a backbone of polished tannins. With a lean and silky texture, it possesses significant power for future bottle evolution, drinkable from 2024 onwards, with a potential to age for 15-20 years.
🍴 This robust red is an excellent match for steak and pasta with wild boar ragu. It also pairs beautifully with lamb, rich red meat dishes, truffle-based pasta, and aged cheeses, making it a versatile companion for hearty and sophisticated meals.
