While specific tasting notes for the 2023 Mongeard-Mugneret Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru are not yet widely available, wines from this vineyard typically showcase a captivating bouquet of red berries, violets, and subtle spice, often with underlying earthy or mineral notes. In its youth, expect vibrant fruit and a structured palate, which will evolve over time to reveal greater complexity, silky tannins, and a long, perfumed finish characteristic of fine Vosne-Romanée. The 2023 vintage is anticipated to deliver a wine with good concentration and a lively acidity.
🥂 This wine is an excellent choice for Burgundy enthusiasts and collectors. It's perfect for a special dinner, a celebratory occasion, or as a thoughtful gift for someone who appreciates fine Pinot Noir. Given its youth, it will benefit from cellaring, but a decanted bottle could offer a glimpse into its future potential for those eager to explore.
🍴 A classic Vosne-Romanée pairs beautifully with sophisticated dishes such as roasted poultry (like duck or guinea fowl), pan-seared mushrooms, delicate game, or fine charcuterie. Its elegance also makes it a wonderful accompaniment to mild, creamy cheeses.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret is a winery located in the Burgundy region of France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small amount of Chardonnay also planted. The Mongeard family dates back to 1620. In the 1920s, Eugène Mongeard's marriage to Edmée Mugneret combined their vineyards, expanding the domaine. In 1945, their son Jean began estate-bottling wine under the name Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret. At 16, Jean was selling grapes to esteemed producers and, following Henri Gouges' advice, started bottling the wine himself.
