🏰 The 2011 vintage in Burgundy was notably challenging, with a warm spring leading to early budburst and flowering, followed by a dip in summer temperatures and a severe heatwave. Despite these difficulties, Bouchard Père & Fils, a historic Burgundy producer, crafted an Echezeaux Grand Cru that reflects the elegance and complexity expected from this esteemed appellation. Echézeaux wines typically display red fruit characteristics with earthy undertones and floral notes, developing additional complexity with age. Bouchard Père & Fils owns a particularly well-situated 0.39-hectare plot in Echezeaux, on a steep slope with clayey and limestony subsoil, ideal for Pinot Noir. The 2011 Echezeaux Grand Cru from Bouchard Père & Fils is known for intense aromas of red fruit and spices entwined with oaky hints, offering a perfect marriage of terroir elegance and Grand Cru power. Critics have noted its bright red-berry aromas, focus, and tightly wound structure, with great energy on the palate, leading to a stony and slightly austere yet extremely long and structured finish. It is a well-balanced vintage, ready to be drunk, with very good aging potential. 【A harmonious blend of elegance and Grand Cru power from a challenging vintage】.
🍴 This savory and classic red Pinot Noir is an excellent match for duck, goose, and game birds. Its complex profile also makes it suitable for hearty meals such as beef or lamb dishes, or a selection of fine cheeses.
🥂 The Bouchard Père & Fils Echezeaux Grand Cru 2011 is perfect for special occasions or a luxurious night in. Its aging potential means it can be enjoyed now or cellared for further development, making it a thoughtful gift for a wine connoisseur.
