🏰 【M. Chapoutier's single vineyard selection, a biodynamic gem crafted from ancient Grenache vines.】 The 2004 M. Chapoutier Chateauneuf-du-Pape Barbe Rac is a powerful and hedonistic wine, certified organic and biodynamic, showcasing the unique terroir of its single vineyard. It displays an intense garnet appearance with a complex nose of roasted herbs, licorice, chocolate, and sweet black cherry fruit, evolving into notes of dark cherry, blackberry, tobacco, and espresso. The palate is ample, fleshy, hot, and round, with outstanding density and an impressive length, featuring liqueur-like dark fruit flavors and powerful, yet refined, tannins. This huge wine demands cellaring and is drinking at maturity, with potential to hold for many more years.
🍴 This full-bodied Chateauneuf-du-Pape is a superb match for rich, savory dishes. Consider marinated or sauced red meats, such as braised lamb, beef bourguignon, or game dishes like wild boar stew. It also pairs wonderfully with hearty cheeses.
🥂 An excellent choice for a grand celebration, a special occasion dinner, or a serious tasting among connoisseurs. Its complexity and depth make it a focal point of any gathering.
