Fontaine Gagnard, Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru, 1998
🏰 Specific vintage reports and tasting notes for Fontaine Gagnard Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru 1998 are limited in our current search. However, the 1998 vintage in 布根地 (Burgundy) was generally considered a good, if somewhat challenging, year, particularly for reds. The season saw variable weather, with a difficult flowering period and some hail, but a fine September often saved the vintage, allowing for good ripeness. Pommard wines, known for their robust structure and often rustic charm, from this vintage are expected to show good concentration and a classic Pinot Noir profile, with red fruit, earthy notes, and firm tannins that would have softened with age. 【A classic, structured Pommard from a challenging yet rewarding vintage.】
🍴 This 1er Cru Pommard, with its inherent power and evolving complexity, is an excellent match for hearty and flavorful dishes. Consider pairing it with roasted game birds like pheasant or partridge, beef bourguignon, grilled lamb chops, or a rich mushroom and truffle pasta. Its structure also stands up well to aged, firm cheeses.
🥂 The 1998 Fontaine Gagnard Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru is now well into its maturity, offering a fascinating blend of fruit and savory tertiary notes. Given its age and the robust nature of Pommard, a decant of 1-2 hours is recommended to allow the wine to fully express its aromas and to separate any sediment. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). This wine is ideal for a special dinner, a gathering of Burgundy lovers, or a contemplative evening.
