🏰 The 2022 vintage in Bordeaux was marked by high temperatures and a lack of water, making it a challenging year for white wines, yet some terroirs, like those for Pavillon Blanc, managed to excel. The harvest for Sauvignon Blanc at Château Margaux began early, on August 18th. Despite the warmth, the 2022 Pavillon Blanc is described as impressively vibrant, with terrific freshness and precision. It's considered by many critics to be one of the best white wines of the vintage, with James Suckling awarding it 99 points and Jeb Dunnuck 98 points. 【This is the white wine of the vintage! - Wine Cellar Insider】. Yields were exceptionally low at only 14-15.5 hectoliters per hectare, meaning significantly less of this wine was made. The wine offers opulent aromas of sweet gooseberries, mango, lemongrass, pastry cream, green mango, pineapple, smoked cream, green apples, lemon chiffon, lawn grass, pears, vanilla, white peach, and tangerine skin. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy, bright, nicely concentrated, dense but not heavy, flavorful, and very long, with a salty, briny character and pear-drop candy at the end. It combines crystalline acidity, exceptional precision, remarkable depth, and an extraordinarily long, elegant finish with world-class aging potential. It's a creamy, layered dry white with a pure, seamless mouthfeel and bright acidity.
