FEATURES
🏰 The 2008 vintage in Burgundy was largely very good, despite a damp, chilly spring that delayed and disrupted budburst and flowering. The cool, wet conditions also prompted diseases like mildew, making careful vineyard management essential. The vintage was noted for its heterogeneity, with successful wines displaying good richness and freshness from ample acidity. Confuron-Cotetidot's Pommard 2008, a classic red Burgundy, is known for its traditional and structured winemaking approach, emphasizing vineyard character and aging potential.
On the nose, this wine offers an exquisite bouquet of strawberries, cranberry, a splash of lime, and mushroom, presenting an overall mix of fruit jam. It can also show restrained aromas of currant, raspberry, smoke, and spices. The palate is very smooth with dark tannins and a hint of acidity at the end, displaying a light-medium body that is not overly sweet, with more tannin than typical Burgundy. It has a medium-long finish of oak and benefits from 1-2 hours of decanting. 【 Structured and savoury Pommard 】
🍴 This structured Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with grilled or braised red meats, game dishes, and traditional favourites like beef bourguignon. Duck, goose, and other game birds are also excellent choices. For cheeses, aged washed-rind varieties such as Époisses or Langres are recommended. Mediterranean dishes, mushrooms, smoky peppery dishes, and truffle dishes are also suggested pairings.
🥂 This wine is an excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner, especially when paired with hearty meat dishes. Its structure and potential for evolution make it suitable for a gathering of discerning wine lovers.
