FEATURES
🏰 The 2018 Hermanos Hernaiz Finca La Emperatriz Rioja Reserva comes from a historic estate once owned by Eugenia de Montijo, the last Empress of France. This estate, located in the cool, high-altitude (almost 600m) northwest of Rioja Alta, is known for its unique terroir with a surface layer of white boulders. The 2018 vintage is a blend primarily of Tempranillo (76%), with Garnacha (20%) and a small percentage of Viura (4%), aged for 18 months in a mix of French and American oak. It presents a deep, dense red hue. On the nose, it reveals clean, precise aromas of black fruit, violet, black tea, dark chocolate, and gingerbread spices. The palate is aromatic, fruity, and balanced, with firm yet finely honed tannins supporting flavors of plums, blackberries, and cherries. It offers a long, subtle, and dry finish, with a medium to full body. Tim Atkin praises it as one of the best Viñedo Singular reds, noting its subtle, chiselled, graceful character with racy acidity and stony minerality. 【來自前法國皇后莊園的獨特高海拔Rioja Reserva】.
🍴 This Rioja Reserva is a perfect match for grilled or roasted red meats, game, and small game birds. It also pairs exceptionally well with lamb preparations and Mediterranean dishes based on grilled meats. Its savory richness and fine tannins make it suitable for charcuterie and aged cheeses.
🥂 This wine is excellent for a dinner party, a special family meal, or as a gift for a Rioja enthusiast. It can be enjoyed now but has significant cellaring potential through around 2040.
