🏰【The esteemed second wine of Château Margaux, the 2006 Pavillon Rouge offers a powerful yet elegant expression of Margaux's renowned terroir, promising superb development with age.】 From a vintage that triumphed over climatic challenges, this wine showcases a bright ruby/purple hue and a subtle aromatic palette of smoky notes, cedar, black cherry, redcurrant, violets, and hints of truffle. The palate is fresh, sensual, and round, with delicate dark fruit flavors, fine, soft tannins, and a lingering finish of licorice, retaining youthful vigor while unfurling secondary complexities.
🍴 This elegant red Bordeaux is a perfect match for red meats like roasted lamb or beef, game such as venison, and roasted poultry. Its subtle complexity also harmonizes beautifully with hearty fish courses like tuna.
🥂 Ideal for a refined dinner party, a special celebration, or as a sophisticated gift. This wine is drinking beautifully now and has the structure to continue evolving gracefully for many years.
BACKGROUND
Château Margaux is one of Bordeaux's most famous wine estates, located just east of Margaux itself in the Médoc. Along with Lafite, Latour and Haut-Brion, it was rated as a first growth in the original 1855 Bordeaux Classification of the Médoc. There are also 12 hectares (30 acres) of Sauvignon Blanc to make Margaux's white offering, Pavillon Blanc, which must be sold as Bordeaux AOP, not Margaux. The red wines are fermented in a mix of traditional wooden and stainless steel vats; the grand vin sees between 18 and 26 months aging in new oak barrels.
