🏰 Aurélien Lurquin is a discreet yet highly sought-after Champagne producer based in Chamery, Montagne de Reims. His small estate is meticulously farmed using strict biodynamic principles, and he vinifies entirely by hand without additives, prioritizing the wine's natural balance. Wines undergo long aging in barrel, with no filtration or dosage, resulting in micro-expressions of terroir. Lurquin began organic conversion in 2007 and released his first natural Champagnes in 2013, striving for pristine freshness through slow fermentations.
The 2022 Champagne vintage has been officially declared a 'solar' vintage by the Comité Champagne, signifying outstanding quality coupled with the highest permitted yield in over a decade. The growing season was largely benign, featuring a mild winter, minimal frost damage in spring, a disease-free summer, and well-timed August rains, all contributing to healthy, fully ripe fruit across all major varieties. Harvest commenced as early as August 20th, with must potential alcohol averaging above 10%. Cellar masters were delighted by the rare combination of high natural sugar and well-balanced acidity, with early reports indicating wines of depth, freshness, and aromatic intensity, suggesting strong long-term aging potential. 【 Discreet, biodynamic producer crafting micro-expression Champagnes with pristine freshness and natural balance 】
🍴 This terroir-driven Champagne is an excellent pairing for oysters and fine shellfish, lobster with butter or cream sauces, aged Comté or Beaufort cheese, or poached turbot or sea bass with a white butter sauce.
🥂 The 2022 vintage is an excellent choice for celebrations, special occasions, or as a sophisticated aperitif. Its combination of high quality and good yield makes it a promising and highly desirable Champagne, particularly for connoisseurs who appreciate natural, terroir-expressive wines.
