FEATURES
Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, a renowned family-owned winery in Chambolle-Musigny, has a history dating back to 1863. The Clos de la Maréchale vineyard in Nuits-Saint-Georges was acquired in 1902, significantly expanding the domaine's holdings. Frédéric Mugnier, the fifth generation to head the estate, took over in 1985, bringing a hands-off, terroir-driven approach to winemaking. The domaine is celebrated for its high-quality Pinot Noir wines, known for their elegance, finesse, and remarkable aging potential, with limited production making them highly sought after. The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was challenging due to extreme weather, including extended rainfall and lower-than-average sunshine, resulting in tiny volumes, particularly for red wines. However, modern vineyard management and winemaking techniques allowed for the production of good to very good wines suitable for short- to medium-term drinking. The Côte de Beaune fared better than the Côte de Nuits, where Nuits-Saint-Georges is located, making it a variable vintage. Mugnier's Nuits St. Georges Clos de la Maréchale Rouge 1er Cru is known for embodying the ethereal, pure fruit style of Chambolle, even though it's from Nuits-Saint-Georges. Tasting notes for Nuits-Saint-Georges reds often include ripe red fruits like wild strawberry, red cherry, and raspberry, combined with black fruits such as morello cherry and blackberry, along with vanilla, grilled hazelnut, and floral notes. 【A highly sought-after, elegant Pinot Noir from a historic Burgundy estate】.
