🏰 The 2016 vintage in Burgundy was a generational achievement for Grand Cru Pinot Noir, offering wines with structure, complexity, and innate harmony. Chapelle-Chambertin particularly benefited from its cooler microclimate, preserving freshness and aromatic precision. Domaine Trapet's 2016 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is a sublime expression of biodynamic viticulture, marrying terroir precision with winemaking artistry. Robert Parker noted its well-knit, focused bouquet with blackberry and briary scents, cold wet stone, and hints of black truffle, developing a faint smokiness over time. The palate is very well balanced with sappy black fruit tinged with wild strawberry and blood orange, showcasing superb structure and a gentle, insistent grip. Neal Martin described it as a riveting Chapelle-Chambertin. The wine is still quite adolescent and will need a good decade of bottle age to start to stir, but it promises excellence in the fullness of time. 【Exceptional balance of ripe fruit intensity and crystalline structure】
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs beautifully with classic French cuisine such as roasted duck, goose, or other game birds. It also complements refined cheeses and dishes featuring truffles or mushrooms.
🥂 Ideal for a significant anniversary celebration, a sophisticated dinner party, or as a prized addition to a serious wine collector's cellar. Its aging potential makes it a perfect wine for laying down and enjoying in the future.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Trapet is a wine company comprised of two estates, one in Alsace, the other in Burgundy. The company in its current dual-region configuration formed when Andrée Trapet inherited her parents' vineyards in Alsace in 2002. Her husband Jean-Louis has run Domaine Trapet Père et Fils in Gevrey-Chambertin since 1990, when he took over from his father Jean.
