FEATURES
🏰news | features + short tasting note 【The 2014 Denis Mortet Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is a powerful and elegant Burgundy Pinot Noir, showcasing a refined expression of dark berries, earthy minerality, and subtle spices from a "good vintage," now entering its prime drinking window.】 Domaine Denis Mortet, now led by Arnaud Mortet, has evolved towards a more refined and fresh style, with gentler extraction and less new oak, while maintaining the estate's reputation for excellence in Gevrey-Chambertin. The 2014 Burgundy vintage, despite a challenging start, yielded "very pleasing reds" with good freshness and structure. This Grand Cru presents a deep ruby-red color, offering a seductive bouquet of plush redcurrant, wild strawberry, blackberry, and plum, complemented by notes of earth, game, licorice, menthol, and subtle floral hints. The palate is full-bodied, sleekly muscular, and concentrated, with fine-grained, firm yet balanced tannins, leading to a long, minerally, and elegant finish. It is drinking beautifully now and is expected to remain at its peak for the next decade. 🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing various types of suggestion east or west corresponding to wine cost IN ENGLISH This powerful Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is an exceptional match for rich and complex dishes. Classic pairings include roasted feathered game like duck or goose, beef fillet in pastry, or a traditional boeuf bourguignon. For an elevated Cantonese experience, consider a slow-braised pigeon with mushrooms or a rich, savory roasted suckling pig. It also pairs wonderfully with aged soft-ripened cheeses. 🥂 fit for event suggestion IN ENGLISH The 2014 Denis Mortet Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is ideal for a grand dinner party, a significant celebration, or a serious tasting among Burgundy aficionados. Its complexity, elegance, and current maturity make it a truly memorable wine for special occasions. Serve this wine at a cool cellar temperature of 14-16°C (57-61°F). Decanting for at least one hour is highly recommended to allow its full aromatic complexity to unfold and to address any potential reduction.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Denis Mortet is located in northern Burgundy and is famous for producing high-quality Pinot Noir wine. It is produced in a modern style and has a delicate taste. The domaine currently occupies 11.2 hectares (27 acres) and has also purchased part of the Le Chambertin Grand Cru vineyard. The winery was founded in 1956 when Charles Mortet purchased a hectare of vineyard and began selling fruit to merchants. Mortet's son Denis and his wife Laurence started working at the estate in 1978 and took over and established Domaine Denis Mortet in the early 1990s.
