FEATURES
🏰 The 1979 Burgundy vintage, while not universally considered a great year, was definitely better than average, yielding some very enjoyable wines. The growing season saw a cold, wet winter and a cool spring that slightly delayed vine growth. Summer brought milder temperatures, though hailstorms affected areas like Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, and Chambolle-Musigny. However, sunny weather in September ensured a generous harvest of well-ripened grapes. Red wines from this vintage were generally elegant and harmonious, with many cuvées showing good tannic structure, indicating promising cellaring potential. For the 1979 Romanée-Conti, early tasting notes from a Jeroboam in 1991 described a superb, fat, overripe fruit, spicy, and seductive nose, with a soft, ripe red and black fruit palate, superb balance, decadence, and a very long finish. A 1979 Grands Echezeaux from DRC, tasted in 2013, exhibited a vivacious nose of tart red cherries, red currant, and violets, with brilliant delineation for its age. The palate was supremely well-balanced with an almost fructose-like entry, described as feminine, pretty, and pure, with a crystalline finish and the potential to last another two decades. 【As one of the world's most iconic, rare, and sought-after wines, a 1979 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru represents a profound historical and sensory experience, embodying the pinnacle of 布根地 Pinot Noir.】 The 1979 vintage, though not always lauded, produced some very enjoyable wines that have demonstrated surprising longevity. 🥂 This is a truly exceptional wine for milestone celebrations, significant anniversaries, or a profound tasting experience among the most discerning connoisseurs. It's a testament to the enduring quality of legendary 布根地. Serving Advice: Given its venerable age, this wine demands utmost care. The cork and capsule may be fragile, so a Durand opener or similar tool is highly recommended. Stand the bottle upright for several days or even weeks before serving to allow any sediment to settle naturally. Decanting should be done gently and only immediately before serving, primarily to remove sediment, as very old wines can lose their delicate aromatics quickly with excessive air exposure. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, ideally between 16-18°C (60-64°F). 🍴 Food pairing suggestions include roast bird, morels, silky risotto with morels and aged Comté. Lighter versions of Beef Bourguignon, game birds, game animals, sirloin or rib of beef, roast beef, and aged Époisses cheese would also be excellent choices. Dishes featuring wild mushrooms and truffles would inherently resonate with the wine's earthy profile.
