🏰 From the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy's biodynamic Domaine d'Auvenay, this 2005 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru is an 【exceptional and rare wine】, produced from a tiny 0.25-hectare plot. The 2005 vintage yielded powerful and concentrated red wines, destined for very long aging (30 to 50 years or more). It unveils a deep ruby red hue, with a rich and complex nose of red and blue fruits, spice, earth, game, and forest floor. The palate is full, suave, and remarkably deep, with muscular yet integrated tannins and a long, concentrated, mineral finish.
🍴 This profound Grand Cru Burgundy demands robust and savory pairings. Think roasted game, Peking duck, beef bourguignon, braised short ribs, or roasted lamb. For Asian cuisine, char siu pork, Korean-style grilled beef ribs, or grilled wagyu would be exquisite. It also pairs beautifully with strong cheeses like Époisses.
🥂 An unparalleled choice for a truly special celebration, a high-end tasting, or as a prestigious gift for a serious Burgundy collector. This wine is designed for very long cellaring.
Serving: Serve at a temperature between 14 and 16°C. Decanting is highly recommended to allow its complex layers to unfold.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
