🏰 The 2007 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru is a superb example of white Burgundy, known for its elegance, complexity, and remarkable aging potential. The 2007 vintage in Burgundy for whites was generally considered good, producing wines with freshness and good acidity, allowing for graceful evolution. Bonneau du Martray is a historic estate, with vineyards situated on a hillside with south-east facing exposure, contributing to optimal grape ripening. 【 A benchmark for Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru 】. This Grand Cru Chardonnay is characterized by a perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and minerality, offering aromas of citrus, white flowers, and hazelnuts. On the palate, it's rich and creamy, with flavors of ripe pear, lemon, and a hint of vanilla, culminating in a long, lingering finish with beautiful minerality. Critics have rated it highly, with 93/100 from 13 critic reviews.
🍴 This elegant white Burgundy is a versatile pairing wine. It shines with roasted chicken or turkey, halibut tacos, or creamy seafood dishes like lobster bisque or pan-seared scallops. For a vegetarian option, consider a wild mushroom tart or a rich vegetable gratin. Its complexity also makes it a great match for mature, firm cheeses.
🥂 An excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner party, a special celebration, or a vertical tasting of Grand Cru white Burgundies. It's also a thoughtful gift for a Burgundy connoisseur or for marking a significant personal or professional achievement.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Bonneau du Martray is a highly regarded wine producer based in the village of Pernand-Vergelesses, in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or heartland, France. The domaine was founded by the Bonneau family following the French Revolution, but the vineyards already had a reputation for producing exceptional wines. It is estimated that vines have exsisted here since Roman times and that emperor Charlemagne was a devotee – to the red wines in particular.
