🏰【The 2012 D'Auvenay Puligny Montrachet Les Enseignieres is a near-mythical white Burgundy from Lalou Bize-Leroy, renowned for its Grand Cru quality concentration and mesmerizing fragrance.】 The 2012 vintage for white Burgundy was generally excellent. This particular wine from D'Auvenay, a highly regarded biodynamic estate, is known for its exceptional intensity, concentration, and complexity, often rivaling Premier Cru or even Grand Cru sites. Les Enseigneres is a village-level parcel located just below the Grand Cru vineyards of Batard-Montrachet. Initially shows exceptional intensity of new oak and struck match character, evolving into refreshing citrus fruits and cool tree fruits. It offers a gorgeous fragrant of buttery new oak and cinema popcorn, with exquisite notes of flowers, butter, slight gunpowder, perfumed ripe peach and pear skin, olives, and minerals.
🍴 This rich and complex Chardonnay pairs exquisitely with luxurious seafood like grilled lobster, scallops, or turbot, roasted poultry, foie gras, and creamy risottos or pasta dishes.
🥂 An extraordinary wine for a very special celebration, a connoisseur's tasting, or a memorable gift for a serious collector of fine white Burgundy. Serve well-chilled but not overly cold, around 12-14 degrees Celsius (54-57 degrees Fahrenheit), to allow its intricate aromatics to shine. Decanting for a short period (30 minutes) might be beneficial to let it open up, but be cautious not to over-aerate.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
