🏰 The 2022 Burgundy vintage is proving to be excellent, offering a return to normal, even generous, volumes after challenging prior years. Despite an early budbreak and the threat of frost in April, most vineyards avoided significant harm. A hot and dry summer, punctuated by crucial rains in June, led to healthy, ripe grapes. The resulting white wines are described as sunny, supple, charming, and vibrant, with a surprising freshness and energy despite the warm conditions. They exhibit real depth and ripeness, with early barrel tastings showing enormous charm and vitality. 【A generous and excellent vintage for both red and white Burgundies, offering charm and vitality】.
Coche Dury's Bourgogne Aligoté 2022 is expected to be a vibrant and expressive example of this often-underestimated grape. Aligoté from a top producer like Coche Dury can offer remarkable complexity and minerality. Expect crisp acidity, bright citrus notes (lemon, grapefruit), green apple, and a distinctive saline or stony minerality, possibly with hints of white flowers. The 2022 vintage's freshness should ensure a lively and engaging profile. This wine is best enjoyed relatively young to appreciate its vivacity.
🍴 This zesty Aligoté is incredibly versatile with food. It shines with fresh seafood like oysters, grilled prawns, or ceviche. It's also a classic pairing for traditional Burgundian dishes such as escargots with garlic butter, or gougères. For something lighter, consider goat cheese salads or asparagus dishes.
🥂 Perfect for an aperitif on a warm evening, a casual lunch with friends, or as a refreshing accompaniment to a seafood feast. Its crispness and lively character make it an excellent choice for celebratory toasts or simply as an everyday indulgence.
