FEATURES
🏰 The 1990 vintage in Burgundy is widely celebrated as one of the finest of the 20th century, a year where both quantity and exceptional quality converged, particularly for Pinot Noir. It marked the beginning of modern Burgundy winemaking, with a hot, dry summer following a cool spring, leading to small, concentrated berries. The resulting red wines are known for their richness, structure, and deep layering, showcasing a remarkable balance between power and finesse. While some early critics noted firm tannins, the best examples have aged beautifully, offering complex aromas of ripe red fruits, violets, roses, and developing tertiary notes of earth, truffle, and sweet spices. The 1990 Musigny Grand Cru from producers like Domaine Leroy and Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier are considered benchmarks of this distinguished vintage. 【 A legendary Burgundy vintage, offering a rare confluence of high quality and quantity for Pinot Noir. 】 🥂 This venerable 1990 Musigny Grand Cru is perfect for a milestone anniversary, a significant birthday celebration, or an exclusive tasting event for serious collectors. Its age and pedigree make it a centerpiece for any special occasion. Serving Advice: Given its age, this wine will be fragile. Stand the bottle upright for several days before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Carefully remove the cork, as old corks can be brittle. Decanting is highly recommended for 1-2 hours to allow the wine to breathe and shed any sediment, revealing its full aromatic complexity. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F), in large Burgundy glasses to appreciate its evolving bouquet. 🍴 This powerful and elegant red Burgundy pairs exquisitely with classic French cuisine. Think roasted game birds like pheasant or duck, beef bourguignon, or a delicate truffle risotto. For cheese, consider aged Epoisses or Comté to complement its earthy and complex notes.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Daniel Moine Hudelot is located in the commune of Chambolle-Musigny in Burgundy. Originally a small family estate managed by Daniel Moine, the former mayor of Chambolle-Musigny, the estate was acquired in 2008 by Patrick Landanger from the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or. Today, the estate no longer exists, but its wines are still appreciated by experienced amateurs.
