🏰 【Les Pagodes de Cos 2014, the second wine of the esteemed Château Cos d'Estournel, offers a more approachable yet still elegant expression of its Grand Cru terroir from a classic Bordeaux vintage.】 The 2014 vintage in Bordeaux was generally considered very good, producing wines with freshness, purity of fruit, and good structure. This wine, a blend predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, typically presents notes of blackcurrant, plum, graphite, and a hint of spice, with refined tannins and a balanced acidity. It's a charming wine that can be enjoyed now or aged for several more years.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing: Excellent with roasted duck, braised pork belly, or a rich beef stir-fry. For Western cuisine, consider grilled lamb chops, beef bourguignon, or medium-aged cheddar.
🥂 fit for event suggestion: Ideal for a sophisticated weeknight dinner, a casual gathering with friends, or a gift for a Bordeaux lover. It's a versatile wine that pairs well with a variety of dishes.
BACKGROUND
Cos d'Estournel is a vineyard and winery in the Saint-Estephe appellation of the Medoc. istorically, the Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant grand vin has had a high percentage of Merlot compared with other Medoc growths, although this has lessened in recent years. The new winery, which was built in 2012, has four vats which can be lifted to allow processes to be gravity-fed. The grand vin is matured for 18 months in new oak barrels; Les Pagodes sees 12 months in new oak whilst Marbuzet and rouge are matured in 50 percent new wood. Annual production of the various wines varies between 200,000 and 380,000 bottles.
