FEATURES
🏰 Domaine Nicole Lamarche's La Grande Rue Grand Cru Monopole is a [prestigious and rare Burgundy gem], a small 1.65-hectare vineyard nestled between Romanée-Conti and La Romanée. The 2018 vintage is noted for its elegance rather than sheer weight, with a mid-crimson color and a nose that hints at iron-rich blood orange, spices, and menthol. The palate offers a sumptuous texture, building tension, and a dusty, firm, and very long finish, showcasing excellent structure and detail. Expect vibrant red fruit, dark cherries, raspberry, wild hedgerow, and traces of Chinese tea, developing tertiary notes.
🍴 This exquisite Pinot Noir beautifully enhances the intense flavors of red meats, pork, and game, and pairs with class alongside mature cheeses. Specific recommendations include roasted duck breast with cherry reduction, wild mushroom risotto, herb-crusted lamb chops, or black truffle pasta. For an unexpected pairing, seared tuna with a sesame crust can also work delightfully.
🥂 La Grande Rue is a masterpiece, perfect for a truly special occasion, a significant anniversary, or as a cornerstone of a fine wine collection. It boasts extraordinary longevity, capable of evolving for over twenty-five years. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F) and decant for about an hour to allow the bouquet to open gradually, revealing a deep and harmonious aromatic profile.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
