🏰 The 2018 Jacques Prieur Chambertin Grand Cru is a testament to the power of the Côte de Nuits, showcasing a 【muscular elegance and structural integrity】 that places it among the finest wines of a largely very good Burgundy vintage. This Chambertin Grand Cru pours with a deep, concentrated ruby hue, offering an arrestingly complex bouquet of dark cherries, crushed violets, and forest floor, evolving with notes of toasted spice, licorice, and subtle smokiness. On the palate, it delivers magnificent weight and a velvety texture, with precise blackcurrant and wild plum fruit supported by a firm yet refined tannic spine and vibrant acidity.
🍴 This powerful and elegant red Burgundy is an exquisite pairing for venison calf with stewed red cabbage, Wagyu beef sliders with caramelized balsamic onions, or a classic Coq au Vin. For an adventurous pairing, try it with a dark chocolate tart with sea salt.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a milestone celebration, a serious wine tasting, or a luxurious dinner where the wine is the star. This wine has a long life ahead, with a projected peak drinking window extending to 2045.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jacques Prieur is a relatively large Burgundy producer that makes both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from esteemed vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, France. The history of the domaine began in the 1860s, with the marriage of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau. They first established the wine and spirits merchant business, Duvergey-Taboureau House, before buying property in Meursault – now the site of the modern Domaine Jacques Priuer.
